3rd B.C. affordability credits going out

The B.C. government is depositing more money into bank accounts this week, as the third Affordability Credit is sent out.

The province says about 85 per cent of British Columbians will either receive a full or partial payment as early as Wednesday.

The amount you see depends on your income and family size. The provincial government says an adult could see as much as $164 and $41 per child, or about $410 for a family with two kids.

“Many British Columbians continue to struggle with the costs of everyday life due to global inflation,” said Premier David Eby, who adds, “The third installment of the BC Affordability Credit will help people pay for the essentials — like a trip to the grocery store or a new pair of shoes for a growing child.”

Most people who are eligible for the credit will see a direct deposit into their accounts. The first credit payment went out in October of last year, while the second was made in January.

Part of Budget 2023, affordability credit payments have totalled about $1.5 billion since the fall.

The province notes that while many may notice the additional money in their bank accounts as of Wednesday, it may take up to 10 days for the payment to be deposited.
