Vancouver’s cooler-than-normal spring continues

If you feel like it’s colder than it usually is at this time of the year, you’re right.
According to CityNews Meteorologist Carl Lam, Metro Vancouver is going to be experiencing some unseasonably cool temperatures this week.
“In terms of temperatures, we should be closer to 13 degrees for this time of year, and we’re just going to be in the upper single digits from Tuesday through Friday,” he said.
While it may be a bit cooler, Lam says there will be opportunities to soak up some sunlight.
“We’ll finally see a little bit of a break in the clouds for some sun by Tuesday afternoon, and it leads to a really nice Wednesday on the way,” he noted.
That brief break from the rain comes after a soggy Easter weekend in the region. Lam says the rain is expected to return on Thursday and Friday this week.

The increased precipitation as of late has prompted a high streamflow advisory from the BC River Forecast Centre. The agency says rivers in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley, North Shore Mountains, Howe Sound, and Vancouver Island could see high flows.
The lack of snowmelt and heavy rain are cited as reasons behind the advisory, which has been in effect since April 6.
“Current forecasts are indicating the potential for localized flooding in low-lying areas,” the centre’s website states.
