Mounties in Surrey say one man is in the hospital after shots were reportedly fired at a vehicle in the Newton area Monday afternoon.
The Surrey RCMP says officers were called to the area of 76 Avenue and 148 Street, near Surrey Memorial Hospital, around 4:10 p.m.
According to police, Mounties found the man hurt, and took him to the hospital.
Mounties add the initial investigation suggests a white van was spotted driving away from the scene.
Meanwhile, police say investigators are working to find out whether or not a nearby fire in the area of 147 Street and 69 Avenue is related.
“Officers are in the area and will conducting neighbourhood canvassing and speaking with witnesses to obtain further information. The investigation is still in its early stages and police are working to determine a possible motive,” a news release reads.
