Metro Vancouver weather: Where’s the sun?

With Metro Vancouver experiencing a cold and wet spring the past couple of weeks, a shift in the weather may be on the horizon.
CityNews Meteorologist Carl Lam says conditions are expected to improve heading into next week.
“As we head towards next week, we do start to dry things out on a number of days. It looks like Monday and Tuesday will have temperatures in the low teens,” he said.
Highs of 12 C and 13 C with some sunshine are expected on Monday and Tuesday next week, with the mercury only expected to rise in the days that follow.
“By the end of next week, it looks like temperatures could start to be above average and we could have temperatures getting into the upper teens and possibly, around that 20-degree mark as well,” Lam said.
Before we get to break out the sunglasses, Lam says we will have to brave a soggy weekend.
“We deal with rain as we head into the weekend across Metro Vancouver. So, Saturday looks like the wetter of the two weekend days. Sunday is still cloudy, still some rain showers around but ultimately, looking like the better of the two weekend days,” he added.

That may make for some wet weekend events in Metro Vancouver.
On Saturday, Surrey’s Vaisakhi parade is set to take place, with between 500,000 and 700,000 expected to flood the streets of the city. It’s considered to be the largest such celebration in the world.
