Burnaby assault suspect wanted after senior shoved in Metrotown

Mounties in Burnaby have released new photos of a suspect wanted in connection with an assault on a senior in Metrotown.

The RCMP says officers were called to the mall on Thursday, April 20 around 9:30 a.m. after reports a man had shoved an 89-year-old woman to the ground. The woman was reportedly walking through the mall when the incident occurred. The pair did not know each other, investigators add, noting the woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

She has since been discharged from the hospital.

Police say the same man is also said to have assaulted two other people — who had not contacted the RCMP — in the mall before leaving. Mounties say in one case, a man “was pushed seconds before the elderly woman was assaulted,” while a second man was shoved “moments after the incident.”

After initially releasing images of the suspect, police say they were able to get “better quality photos from an incident at a SkyTrain station” which is said to have taken place a day prior, on April 19.
