Abbotsford police seeking suspects in home attack

The Abbotsford Police Department is asking for public help in identifying 15 individuals caught on video in an attack on a property using weapons like swords and axes, Angela Bower reports.

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) is asking for the public’s help to identify suspects after a violent incident last month left residents in shock.

The footage of the 15 individuals was caught on surveillance video on April 29.

The video shows three cars approaching the residence, with the attackers smashing the windshield and jumping on the hood of a car, while also vandalizing the homes. One person can be seen using an axe to break down the front door.

The aftermath of the attack is still visible on the Abbotsford home.

The owner of the house, Sarbjit Singh, told OMNI News that he’s still very shocked by what happened. In the 22 years he’s lived at the house with his family, he says nothing like this has happened before.

By the time they called the police, the attackers had already left, Singh says.

He has suspicions that the incident may be related to tenants from Calgary who rented his basement suite in February. He is now pleading for anyone who recognizes the individuals in the video, to come forward.

AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker tells CityNews the incident is “completely concerning.”

“I’m ashamed to see this myself and to see these young men in their 20s having this type of violence in our community. It’s not something we want to see. We want to hold these people accountable and have them see justice,” Walker said.

“We are trying to determine why this occurred. There are many people that live at this residence. We want the community to watch the video and be part of holding these people accountable,” he added.
