Italian Day returns to Vancouver’s Commercial Drive this June

By CityNews Staff

For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Italian Day on the Drive will return in its full form to Vancouver’s Commercial Drive neighbourhood this June.

Grandview Park will once again be centre stage for the festival, however, unlike last year, the event will extend down the Drive as it did in previous years.

Organizers say this year’s theme is “Renaissance,” adding the festival “marks new beginnings, with a phoenix rising after a three-year hiatus.”

“The Drive will once again come alive in green, white, and red, and attendees can enjoy all that the community has to offer,” they add in a release.

With food, shopping, and performances in abundance, Italian Day on the Drive has been a go-to event in Vancouver for many years. Spanning 14 blocks of Commercial Drive, also known as Little Italy, organizers say the festival is held to “promote and celebrate Italian heritage, culture, and community.”

Historically, those behind the event say it has drawn over 300,000 attendees.

In 2022, a variation of Italian Day was held, though it was confined only to Grandview Park and not the roadway.

CityNews 1130 is a proud sponsor of Italian Day on the Drive.
