Police in Burnaby search for motorcyclist who fled crash scene

Police in Burnaby are asking the public for help in finding a motorcyclist who they say literally ran away from a crash scene Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Burnaby RCMP, officers tried to pull over a motorcycle on Hastings Street near Springer Avenue around 4:30 p.m. when the biker sped off.

Mounties say an officer watched the motorcycle rear-end a vehicle just moments after the failed traffic stop.

Police say when officers arrived at the crash scene, they noticed the bike turned on its side, with the operator fleeing the area on foot eastbound on Hastings Street.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, police added.

The RCMP asks anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam video on Hastings Street, from Fell Avenue to Springer Avenue, between 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on May 24 to call 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2023-17422.
