Vancouver police renew appeal for 3rd most-wanted in Canada

Police in Vancouver are asking for help to find a 36-year-old man who police say is ranked third on the list of most-wanted people in Canada.

In a renewed appeal Wednesday, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says 36-year-old Cody Casey is wanted in connection to 17 drug and firearm-related offences.

“VPD’s Organized Crime Section began an investigation in February 2020, which led to charges against Casey in relation to the production and trafficking of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, as well as firearm offences,” Insp. Phil Heard explained.

Heard says a condo in Downtown Vancouver was previously searched and officers found various drug-related paraphernalia in 2020.

“This suite was found to be a site where toxic drugs were produced, packaged, and ready for trafficking. The substances located in the suite included fentanyl, carfentanyl, and a variety of other drugs in total. Over four kilograms of fentanyl were seized,” he explained.

In additional searches around Metro Vancouver during that year, police say “more than 20 kilograms of fentanyl, nearly 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, three firearms, a live grenade, and over $300,000 in cash,” were also found.

Casey was subsequently arrested in connection with the investigations in July 2020.

He was released on bail on a number of conditions, Heard says, but less than two weeks before his trial in 2022 Heard says Casey is believed to have fled the country.

Police say he is number three on the list of Canada’s top most wanted suspects, and a reward of up to $100,000 is up for grabs for information that leads to his arrest.

“We believe there are people in Metro Vancouver who have knowledge of his current whereabouts,” Heard added.

“If your tip is successful, our top priority will be to give you the reward you deserve, just like we’ve done numerous times in the past,” Max Langlois, the executive director of the Be On The Lookout (BOLO) Program, said.

Casey is described as 6 feet tall and about 200 pounds.

Crime Stoppers notes if you spot him, “Take no action to apprehend Casey yourself. He may be armed and dangerous.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at 604-717-9979 or for those who wish to remain anonymous to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
