Burnaby park stabbing leaves one hospitalized: RCMP

Mounties in Burnaby say one person was stabbed in a park and was later hospitalized Monday evening.

Burnaby RCMP showed up in a park near Highgate Village Shopping Centre at 5:40 p.m., and tell CityNews they found a man with “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.”

“When police arrived, they located a 53-year-old man suffering from several stab wounds. Officers immediately performed first aid on the victim, who has since been transported to the hospital.”

Police say they have identified the suspect as a 37-year-old man who “appears” to know the victim, officers say he was gone by the time they arrived.

Mounties say they don’t see any ongoing public risk in relation to this stabbing, and add they will remain in the area while they continue conducting an investigation.
