CityNews 1130 wins RTDNA regional award

CityNews 1130 has won a regional 2023 Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) award.

The award was in the Radio Newscast – Audio – Large Market category for coverage of a major snowstorm in 2022 that hit the Lower Mainland, bringing chaos to local roads.

The hours-long radio reporting included ongoing updates on school closures, road closures, and major traffic backups throughout the region.

The win means CityNews 1130’s “Snowmageddon” coverage will now compete with those who got awards in the same category in the east, central, and Prairie regions for Best Canadian Local News.

Those award winners are set to be announced at the RTDNA Canada 2023 National Awards Gala on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, in Toronto.

The RTDNA win comes after CityNews Vancouver was honoured with four 2023 Region 14 Edward R. Murrow Awards.
