Burnaby home invasion leaves 1 dead, another injured; IHIT investigating

The Burnaby RCMP says a man has died in a homicide after an “incident” at a home early Thursday morning.

In a statement, Mounties say just after 7 a.m., officers responded to reports of a home invasion on 17th Avenue, between Mary Avenue and Canada Way.

Mounties say a woman was also injured in the incident, however, has non-life-threatening injuries.

“The incident is believed to be targeted,” Corp. Michael Kalanj said.

The Integrated Homicide Investigations Team (IHIT) has now been called in and has taken over the investigation.
