Burnaby RCMP says man exposed himself to woman at Central Park

The Burnaby RCMP is looking for witnesses after a man reportedly exposed himself to a woman in Central Park on Tuesday.

Mounties say it happened around 3:45 p.m. According to the RCMP, the woman flagged down officers who were “proactively patrolling the west side” of the park.

The woman told officers a man she didn’t know had approached her and “said hi and hello while staring at her before he lowered his pants and exposed himself.”

The man is then said to have walked away.

Despite searching the park, Mounties say officers were unable to find the suspect.

Investigators describe the man as having an “athletic build with lean muscle.” He has long, brown hair, and a full, dark brown beard.

Police say the suspect was carrying a large black backpack with yellow components at the time of the incident, and was wearing a grey t-shirt and dark pants.

“We would like the public to be aware of this incident and to report any similar occurrences to police,” said Corp. Mike Kalanj.

“We would also like to commend the victim for reporting this to us as soon as she could. Burnaby RCMP officers have been conducting extra patrols in the Central Park area since the incident and will continue to do so.”

The RCMP is asking anyone with information to contact investigators at 604-646-9999 and quote file 23-23738.
