‘Unprovoked’ stabbing on Granville leaves tourist hurt: Vancouver police

A 28-year-old tourist from New Zealand was stabbed in the Granville Entertainment District Wednesday night in what Vancouver police say appears to be a “completely random and unprovoked” attack.

It happened just before 8 p.m. in the area of Granville and Nelson streets. Police say the man was reportedly stabbed “from behind” by someone he didn’t know.

Investigators add the victim took himself to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made. The Vancouver Police Department says it is looking for a man who is about 5’5″ tall who was wearing a white t-shirt, dark jeans, and blue baseball cap.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the VPD at 604-717-4021.
