Motorcyclist dead after Lougheed Highway collision

Mounties in Maple Ridge say a 45-year-old woman from Port Moody has died following a Tuesday evening motorcycle collision on the Lougheed Highway.
The collision had the Lougheed Highway closed between 240 and Spilsbury streets for around five hours, eventually reopening around midnight.

Police say officers were called to the highway at 6:50 p.m. with reports that a “driver lost control of their motorcycle and swerved into oncoming traffic colliding directly with a minivan.”
BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) told CityNews Tuesday it had received a call at 6:48 p.m. and deployed five units to the area.
It adds that two people were transported to hospital with minor injuries. While police say BCEHS — alongside the Maple Ridge Fire Department — found the female motorcyclist in critical condition and “attempted life-saving measures.”
She ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they are still actively looking into the collision.

Mounties are asking anyone with any information about the collision, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251.
