Cyclist hospitalized in Abbotsford collision

Police in Abbotsford say a cyclist has been hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.
In a tweet, the Abbotsford Police Department says officers responded to calls about a collision involving a cyclist at the intersection of Abbotsford Way and Marshall Road at 2:51 p.m.

Const. Art Stele tells CityNews that the cyclist wasn’t able to clear the intersection and was hit by a vehicle after not looking left or right — sustaining “serious head injuries” as a result.
“The cyclist was transported to a local hospital via ambulance, he is conscious, coherent, and speaking,” he explained. “They are just doing preliminary checks, X-rays to ensure the exact status of the injury.”
Stele says the driver stayed at the scene of the collision and cooperated with police. He adds that speed and impairment weren’t contributing factors.
