Langley car crash sends driver to hospital, causes power outage

A car crash in Langley on Wednesday sent one person to a hospital and took out BC Hydro service for hundreds of customers.

The single-car collision took place on 16th Avenue near 232 Street just before the power turned off at 5:29 p.m.

Mounties in Langley say the driver “ran into a power pole” and had to be removed from the vehicle by “jaws of life.”

Data from BC Hydro shows that just over 300 customers were without power as of 9:30 p.m., a sharp decrease from the 877 customers who were without power just a few hours earlier.

Police say the driver was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital, adding that he should be “fine” from what they understand.
