City issues traffic notice for Abbotsford International Airshow

With the Abbotsford International Airshow expected to bring aviation experts and enthusiasts to the community from far and wide this weekend, the city is urging anyone travelling to or through the area to plan ahead.

The city is warning the event is likely to create traffic congestion along Highway 1, as well as many other routes, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. As such, it is recommending people give themselves extra time getting around, or take transit if possible.

In addition to taking transit, the city is also encouraging anyone attending the event to carpool if they can.

“There is a free BC Transit shuttle to the airshow, which connects to Route 66 Fraser Valley Express, will run on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.,” the city explains.

That shuttle is set to leave from the Bourquin Exchange, making stops at Old Yale and Clearbrook roads, Maclure and Townline roads, and the Highstreet Mall.
