Kelowna RCMP pursue stolen, rare violin

A high-strung case has the RCMP in Kelowna striking a sour chord in the search for a rare, highly valuable, Italian-made violin.

The theft, believed to have taken place early in the morning on Aug. 3, likely happened near the lane behind Wilson Avenue near Richter Street following a performance by the violin’s owner.

Before reporting the violin stolen on Aug. 9, the RCMP stated the violin owner searched for several days in the hope of recovering their musical treasure.

Other additions to the instrument include a microphone pickup jack and a single gold fine tuner.

“This violin holds not only significant monetary value but also immense sentimental value,” Const. Mike Della-Paolera, media relations officer with the Kelowna RCMP, said. “Our aim is to reunite it with its rightful owner.”
