BC Ferries says it has cancelled two sailings between Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast and may have to cancel two more.
The corporation says staffing caused the cancellations and the other two sailings at risk will end up being cancelled if it can’t find replacement crews.
As of Wednesday night, the 9:30 a.m. sailing from the Langdale to the Horseshoe Bay terminal is cancelled — as well as a return sailing at 10:40 a.m.

A service notice from BC Ferries explains that sailings require a “specific number of crew members” on each vessel to keep passengers safe in the event of an emergency.
“The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew. That said, if circumstances change and replacement crew become available, we will notify customers immediately.”
BC Ferries says customers with reservations booked on any cancelled sailing will be contacted by the customer service centre if there is any space for them on an alternate sailing. Travellers will be refunded if fitting them on an alternate sailing isn’t possible.
It has been an eventful day for BC Ferries in terms of cancellations, as the corporation’s Coastal Celebration vessel was docked due to mechanical issues with its main engine — resulting in the cancellation of eight sailings.
