Vancouver street party celebrates city’s historic Punjabi market

South Vancouver’s historic Punjabi market area on Main Street is turning into a party Sunday, as an outdoor street celebration takes over the area.

The Punjabi Market Live festival begins at 12 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m. between 49th Avenue and 51st Avenue.

The celebration showcases dances, music, visual arts, food, and fashion during the day’s festivities.

International superstar Pav Dharia, Gurtêj aka NY Virtuoso will take to the stage, while Club Mumbai DJs will be the soundtrack throughout the day.

Road closures are in effect for the area, and drivers are urged to take a different route.
