Highway 1 has reopened through the Fraser Canyon, after a nearly two-week-long closure between Boston Bar and Lytton, has the B.C. government says.
However, it is only open to single-lane alternating traffic through the Falls Creek (Jackass Mountain) highway reconstruction project, so drivers should expect delays on the route. As well, the highway will be closed between 8:30 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Tuesday evening, due to rain.
“Drivers choosing this route should prepare for lengthy delays by carrying plenty of water and food, and by ensuring fuel tanks are full and EV batteries are fully charged,” the government said in a news release.

A section of Highway 1 closed when the Kookipi Creek fire grew to over four times its size and threatened its surrounding area on Aug. 17.
The province says the Kookipi Creek wildfire remains active. As the BC Wildfire Service is still working in the area, it warns there could be lane closures for fire-related maintenance at any time should conditions warrant.
“This includes the possibility of proactive closures during rainfall to ensure the safety of travellers as the fire-damaged hillside may shed runoff and debris,” it said.
Highways 3, 5, and 99 are possible alternate routes between the Lower Mainland and the Interior, the province adds.
