One person has been displaced after a townhouse fire in Cloverdale on Wednesday night.
Photos from the scene show flames engulfing the right side of the home and black smoke rising above.
The Surrey Fire Service says it got the call around 8:05, and sent firefighters to a townhouse near 168 Street and 62nd Avenue.
“Upon arrival smoke and flame showing from the backside … of the property,” said Assistant Chief of Operations Rich Bodnark.
Bodnark tells CityNews that 19 firefighters and multiple firetrucks attacked the first alarm fire.
“The officer in charge chose to do an offensive attack, suppressing the fire in the unit of origin,” he said.
“These are tight complexes, they’re very tight together … if it wasn’t for the action of the crews and the quick response rate, we could have had a lot further property loss.”
Bodnark says no firefighters or residents were injured in the fire, but one person living in the townhome will be displaced for the night.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
