Some passersby at Waterfront Station in Vancouver were treated to a surprise dance routine on Sunday afternoon.
Over a dozen dancers, seemingly at random, broke out into choreographed moves to a playlist of Beyoncé songs as part of a flash mob.
Choreographer Christina Bucci tells CityNews she was approached by TransLink’s Arts Move initiative in an effort to promote taking transit to the pop superstar’s concert in Vancouver on Monday.
“We decided to contribute our talents and choreography to the project,” she said.

Video shared with CityNews shows a minutes-long dance routine to the artist’s hit songs, with people stopping to take pictures of the spectacle.
“We had a lot of phones out, lot of interest, great audience response,” Bucci said. “They were pretty shocked and surprised by what was happening in that space.”
Bucci says she contacted four studios in the city to take part in the performance. She says she was happy to have students perform in such a public setting.
“I think any time that you have art in a public space, it can trigger and can inspire people to inquire about dance classes,” she explained.
“Sometimes with dance, it can only be seen in a theatre setting so when you put it in a public space, it gives exposure to whoever is walking by in the area at the time.”
