Vancouver broadcaster Kuljeet Kaila passes away after ‘valiantly’ battling cancer

Vancouver broadcaster Kuljeet Kaila passed away on Sunday, Sept. 10 after a battle with brain cancer.

Tributes have been pouring in online for the 25-year industry veteran since her passing was announced, many of them fondly remembering her as a great friend, aunt, colleague, advocate, trailblazer, and much more.

“Her unwavering determination, even in the face of this unexpected adversity, serves as a stark reminder of the fragile beauty of life and the astonishing depth of the human spirit,” her family said in a statement.
According to her family, Kaila “valiantly battled brain cancer with astonishing strength, grace, and resilience until her very last moments.”

Her career in media started at CityNews in 1998 when it was still known as CKWX Vancouver. Her talents reporting on news, traffic, and weather later took her to places like Z95.3, CTV, and most recently the CBC.
Kaila also appeared in a number of commercials, and television and film projects — she was also a DJ and event planner through her company, KJ Media.
