B.C. man found dead in Grenada

A B.C. man who was reported missing in Grenada has been found dead, police in that country say.

Thirty-five-year-old Liam Fisher was a medical student at St. George’s University in the Caribbean country, according to the Royal Grenada Police Force.

Police said in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon that the man had last been seen on Saturday, Sept. 9, “attending the Grenada Hash House Harriers run from the Marian Playing Field.”

However, in an update later that evening, the force said “the body of a man was discovered at Marian, St. George.”

The North Shore News was first to report Fisher’s connection to B.C., noting he was originally from Pemberton and had founded a fitness academy in North Vancouver.

Fisher appears to have been a member of the Grenada Hash House Harriers, a recreational running and walking group.

Efforts to find Fisher have been documented in the group’s Facebook page, with many taking part in searches over the past couple of days.

“The Grenada Hash House Harriers community would like to express our collective and sincere condolences to firstly the immediate family, and secondly the friends, fellow students and anyone connected in a positive way to Liam Fisher,” a post from group member Brian Steele reads.

“While we yearned for a positive outcome, Liam was found on Tuesday evening, away from the trail and had since passed from this life.”

The post says this outcome is “deeply saddening and unfortunate,” encouraging people affected by this to reach out for support.
