Man charged with assault, carrying weapons at Stanley Park festival: VPD

An armed man was arrested Friday night at a comedy festival in Stanley park, according to police.

The Vancouver Police Department says a 31-year-old man was arrested around 9:30 p.m., after security guards spotted him breaching a fence and moving towards the festival stage with two “edged weapons.”

Security guards reacted quickly to stop the man and nobody was injured, police say.

Police officers working inside the venue immediately took custody of the suspect.

Jacques Louis-Martin Letendre has since been charged with uttering threats, assault, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

More to come.
