Vancouver gym owner keeps getting packages of marijuana — but they aren’t hers

For a month now, the co-owner of a gym in Vancouver says she’s been receiving packages of marijuana — a total of six — but she says she hasn’t ordered any of it.

The co-owner of a Vancouver gym says she’s been receiving packages of marijuana — a total of six — but she says she hasn’t ordered any of it.

Wendy Sinclair of Eastside Fitness says when the first package was wrongly delivered to the gym, her co-owner opened it and recognized the smell and she threw it away.

But the packages kept coming.

“Additionally, we’ve also gotten some postal notes saying there’s more packages to come pick up,” she said.

Sinclair says the labels on the packages say “Streamway Supplements,” but she hasn’t been able to track that business down.

“We’ve googled them and there’s absolutely nothing we can find on the internet, so there’s no address, no website, nothing at all,” she said. “So what I’ve gleaned from this is that these fellows or folks are not really good business people, so they don’t put enough postage on the envelopes, and they get returned to us because they’re using our business address.”

Since they received the first package, Sinclair says she’s given all the marijuana to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) to deal with.

As a former police officer herself, Sinclair says her instincts tell her something isn’t right, and she says she believes Streamway Supplements is not a legitimate marijuana distributor.

“It’s definitely some type of fraud, some type of tax evasion as well,” she said. “I’m sure the Canada Revenue Agency probably would love to get a hold of them and probably whoever polices the marijuana distribution industry.”

The VPD tells CityNews when the gym’s staff called about the packages, officers seized the drugs, which have now been destroyed. They say they don’t know who the sender is yet, but they are investigating.

When asked if she’s taken any of the marijuana herself, Sinclair says she’s not interested.

“Oh my gosh no,” she said. “I have no personal bias against it other than I believe in really healthy lungs, so I definitely wouldn’t smoke it.”
