Death on the Sunshine Coast deemed suspicious: IHIT

Homicide investigators say they’re looking into the suspicious death of a 58-year-old Vancouver man on the Sunshine Coast.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to reports of a suspicious death on Saturday. When officers arrived at the Klein Lake Forest Service Road in Egmont, B.C., they found the man suffering from serious injuries.

IHIT says first responders were called to the scene, but Henry Doyle eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Work from the BC Coroners Service has helped IHIT deem the man’s death suspicious. Investigators have determined that Doyle travelled to the area on his dirtbike — which was found near his body — and are hoping to speak with anyone who was in the area of Klein Lake yesterday who may have seen him.

IHIT has taken over the investigation but explains it will continue to work alongside Mounties on the Sunshine Coast, as well as the BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section.

“We’re looking to speak with anyone who was in the area of Klein Lake on Sept. 23,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti stated in a release.

“If you saw Mr. Doyle, or anything suspicious in the area, we ask that you please contact IHIT.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
