Surrey RCMP investigating confrontation

Editor’s note: This article has been updated to reflect the address of the altercation. An earlier version stated the altercation took place in the parking lot of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara. The Surrey RCMP is investigating after a fight broke out between multiple groups Saturday afternoon.

The altercation happened in a parking lot in the area of Scott Road near 70 Avenue.

Video posted on social media shows several people involved in the fight, with some holding objects.

Police say there is no connection between the nearby gurdwara and the fight.

“There is no actual nexus between the persons and the gurdwara, and the proximity to the gurdwara is purely coincidental,” Mounties told CityNews in an emailed statement.

“We are still in the very early stages of the investigation.”

Mounties say there have been no reported injuries.
