Power restored at Vancouver International Airport after earlier outage caused delays, affected services

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) says power has been restored after an earlier outage affected kiosks, escalators, elevators, and other services.

The airport says the outage started as a result of a “technical issue” around 3:30 Friday afternoon.

“We are still seeing impacts in the terminal as systems come back online,” YVR said in a statement. “Teams are canvassing the airport to ensure these systems are returning to full operation. We also have additional customer care staff throughout the terminal addressing the needs of passengers and employees.”

According to the statement, the airport’s emergency power functioned as intended during the issue, and all essential systems remained online.

The airport says they are not seeing any significant flight delays as a result of the outage, but passengers are being encouraged to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.
