Vancouver Fire battles blaze at Barclay Hotel on Robson Street

Crews were wrapping up early Friday evening on the scene of a fire that broke out at a downtown Vancouver hotel.

The blaze was on the third floor of the Barclay Hotel at 1348 Robson Street, Al Gregory, acting on-duty assistant fire chief, told CityNews. He says he isn’t sure what time the call came in, but they were finishing up around 5 p.m.

“They had a small fire, unconfirmed at this point, possibly an electrical fire up on the top upper floor,” Gregory said. “But at this point, there’s no further no further sign of smoke or fire.”

“The hotel will be closed down affecting occupants of 85 suites so we’re not exactly sure of the total number of people affected. The hotel itself has 85 suites,” he added.

No injuries have been reported, and the fire is still under investigation.
