Police in New Westminster say an 84-year-old man has been seriously hurt after he was hit by a car that left the scene Monday.
It happened around 8 p.m. in the parking lot of a gas station near 6th Avenue and Eighth Street, according to investigators.
The senior was taken to the hospital. Police are still trying to identify the driver.
Investigators say the man was hit by a white pick-up truck that was carrying construction equipment in the back.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area before or after the pedestrian was hit to check dashcam footage for a similar looking truck.
“Your surveillance or dash camera may have captured something. Please check,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver.
Investigators are also urging the driver “to do the right thing and come forward.”
