Passengers on Horseshoe Bay-bound bus sprayed with coolant after vehicle springs leak

Several people on a bus bound for the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal were sprayed with coolant after the vehicle experienced a leak on Sunday.

TransLink confirms to CityNews that the leak happened on the 257 bus, while it was near the terminal.

“The bus engine was shut off immediately and the bus was taken out of service for repairs. No injuries or complaints were reported,” the transit authority said in an email.

Video of the incident posted online shows the liquid raining down from what appear to be the light fixtures in sections of the bus. One video captures passengers getting off the bus as they walk through puddles of coolant, with the caption noting some passengers then went on to “ride a ferry covered in toxic chemicals for an hour and 40 mins.”

It’s unclear what caused the leak.
