Playland names new electric ride
We’re getting more details about the newest ride at Playland. After filtering through more than 3,000 names, organizers are introducing you to the ThunderVolt.
“It was important to the PNE the name reflected the ride experience: speed and electricity, while being rooted in nature. We anticipate it will be immediately embraced by Playland coaster enthusiasts due to its unique and thrilling features, as the coaster strikes that perfect balance between fun and thrill and will be an impressive addition to Playland’s ride roster in 2024,” said PNE President and CEO Shelley Frost.

The ride can carry 12 people at a time and it’s electric.
It’s a three-car train that whips through an illuminated tunnel before a steep incline and a nearly 60-foot drop.
The ThunderVolt was built by an Italian company and cost $16 million.
ThunderVolt replaces the Corkscrew, which was previously retired.
