Vancouver police investigating fatal Downtown Eastside stabbing

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is investigating after a man died from an alleged stabbing in the Downtown Eastside Tuesday afternoon.

The 34-year-old man was found lying in the middle of a busy sidewalk between Columbia and Carrall streets. That area of the sidewalk is enclosed by a construction tunnel.

According to the VPD, someone called 911 when they came across the man just after 3:00 p.m.

“We know there are witnesses who saw what happened and we are asking them to come forward,” said Sgt. Steve Addison.

Police say that the victim was rushed to the hospital where he passed away.

The motive behind the stabbing is not clear, police explain, and no arrests have been made.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to call investigators at 604-717-2500.
