An inmate at Kent Institution in Agassiz was assaulted and taken to hospital by air ambulance Monday, Correctional Service Canada says.
BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) says it received a call about the incident at the maximum-security federal institution just before 9:30 a.m. EHS tells CityNews that two ambulances and one air ambulance responded, and paramedics treated and airlifted one patient to hospital. No additional details about the patient’s condition were provided.
“The assailants have been identified and appropriate actions have been taken,” Corrections Service Canada said in a news release. “No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident.”
The Agassiz RCMP and Kent Institution are investigating the incident.
