Several federal government websites crashed Sunday evening.

CityNews staff noticed sometime around 5 p.m. sites such as the Canada Border Services Agency, Environment Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency stopped loading.

According to Shruti Ashok with the Vancouver Airport Authority, passengers arriving in Canada Sunday night experienced some minor delays in getting through border services due to the outage.

She notes there were relatively few inbound flights at the time so the impact was minimal.

It’s currently unclear what caused the sites to crash. As of Monday morning, the sites appear to be back up and running.

CityNews reached out to government agencies but didn’t receive any response.
