Fog blankets Metro Vancouver

A fog advisory is in place for a large part of Metro Vancouver, with locals warned of the potential for “near zero visibility” at times.

The advisory was first issued on Sunday. Environment and Climate Change Canada noted that Metro Vancouver, parts of Vancouver Island, and the Sunshine Coast could expect fog to limit visibility in some parts, potentially making conditions “hazardous for travel.”

CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss says low-lying areas have been most affected by the fog, though it’s been reported all over.

Kuss says the fog should become a little less widespread into the late morning Monday, before some areas see it return in the evening.

“We still have some fog short-range today and again tomorrow, so this morning especially and again into the evening with a window where we get a fair amount of sun in a pretty widespread way late morning and through the afternoon,” he said Monday.

“Fog could linger a little longer tomorrow. Down near freezing first thing — I’m expecting some low cloud around early in the day, potentially even early afternoon, with breaks coming later and then back into it for the evening on Tuesday.”
