North Vancouver woman assaulted, bit officers: police

West Vancouver Police say a woman allegedly attacked three officers while drunk and bit a fourth officer at Park Royal Mall on Monday.

Police say they were called to the mall at around 7 p.m. after being told a woman had dined and dashed at a nearby restaurant.

Officers then found the woman and “were attempting to mediate the issue” when she allegedly attacked the officers. Police claim she kicked three officers and then proceeded to bite another officer who was trying to restrain her.

“This case shows, even for routine calls, the challenges and unpredictabilities that Police Officers face,” said Sgt. Mark McLean.

“An officer sustained a rather serious bite to their arm that resulted in a tetanus shot and the need to take antibiotics.”

Police say charges will be recommended against the 28-year-old North Vancouver woman, adding they believe alcohol was a major factor in her behavior.
