Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck by vehicle in Burnaby: RCMP

The Burnaby RCMP says it’s investigating after a pedestrian was struck near Kincaid Court in Burnaby on Saturday afternoon.

Cpl. Michael Kalanj says a female was struck around Kincaid Street and Smith Street just after 2:00 p.m.

He says the pedestrian was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

If her injuries are confirmed to be minor, the streets closed in relation to the incident should open by around 5 p.m., he adds.

“We need to find out the severity of the injuries, because if it’s severe enough we would call in our criminal collision investigation team,” he said. “(But) it doesn’t look like it’s going that way.”

Police will continue to hold the area and enforce closures on Smith Street until the woman’s injuries have been assessed, Kalanj says.

The driver stayed and cooperated with police, Kalanj adds.
