Elf-themed Compass Cards being resold online for a markup

If you were one of the many people who weren’t able to get their hands on an Elf-themed Compass Card earlier this week, you might be able to snag one, though at a big markup.
Initially priced at $34.99 during a limited-sale release by TransLink, some people are taking the opportunity to resell the limited-edition cards at a profit online.
One Craigslist posting has four cards up for sale for $400 altogether.
“Selling all 4 of the new Translink Christmas (sic) Compass Cards Elf themed. I spontaneously ordered 2 sets of 4 packs this morning online but think I will only keep 1 set so selling the other set of 4 cards,” the ad online reads.

If $400 seems too steep, the seller says they’re open to other “best offers.”
Another posting has one card listed, again for $100 or “to the highest bidder.”

This isn’t the first time limited-edition Compass Cards have been resold for a much higher price online. TransLink’s mini-trolley keychains, DC Super Hero Compass Cards, Compass Minis, and more have been resold in the past few years by people trying to make a buck.
TransLink unveiled the 20th-anniversary Elf-themed cards on Tuesday to celebrate two decades since the iconic holiday film’s release. They went on sale Wednesday at a special pop-up in downtown Vancouver, with a small number of them also available for purchase online.
