Pedestrian hit by car in New West dies of injuries: police

Police in New Westminster say a pedestrian is dead after they were hit by a car Sunday afternoon.
It happened in the area of Princess Street and 6th Street around 1:45 p.m. Police say officers arrived and found “an unresponsive pedestrian that had been struck by a driver.”
The driver is said to have stayed at the scene.
“This is a tragic event and our thoughts are with the family of this individual,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver. “We have a large team of investigators working together to determine how this happened, but we are still in the early stages at this point.”
