District of Squamish warns trail-users of active bear den

The District of Squamish is telling locals to stay away from an active bear den in the Mount Crumpit area.

It says the BC Conservation Offiver Service confirmed the den, which is located very close to trails off of Powerhouse Springs Road.

The den, northeast of the Valleycliffe neighborhood, is reported to have cubs in it.

“For the bears’ safety and yours, avoid using this area,” the district said in a post to X.

Any sightings or encounters should be reported to the conservation service at 1-877-952-7277.
