Hundreds of thousands of people became Canadian citizens in 2023

More than 354,000 people officially became Canadian citizens in 2023, the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) posted on X on the last day of 2023.

The organization says Canada hosted more than 3,000 citizenship ceremonies throughout the year.

Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Marc Miller announced that the International Experience Canada Program is now open ahead of the new year. This program allows nearly 90,000 people between the ages of 18 and 35 (or 30 for some countries) from partner countries and territories to come to Canada. As well, the program allows Canadian citizens in the same age group to work and travel abroad by providing pathways to work permits or visas in over 35 countries around the world.
