Dewdney Trunk reopens in Maple Ridge after shooting

Police in Maple Ridge have reopened a section of Dewdney Trunk Road after it was shut down following a shooting Friday morning.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP confirmed police received reports just after 12:30 a.m. of shots being fired in the area of Dewdney Trunk and 248 Street.

Investigators say no one appears to have been hurt in the incident.

Mounties had blocked off the Dewdney Trunk Road between 252nd Street and 248th Street, saying “the area has been secured,” and people were being asked to avoid the area.

So far, no motive has been determined.

“This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time,” the RCMP said in an update just after 11 a.m.

Mounties are looking to speak with anyone who was in the area or who may have video from the area. The Ridge Meadows RCMP can be contacted at 604-463-6251.
