Hundreds of people gathered near Science World Saturday to march in support of Palestine.

Participants gathered at nearby Creekside Park at 2 p.m. for a rally and then marched through the area, passing through the intersection of Main St. and Prior around 4:30, according to a post on X.

This rally and march came a week after demonstrators hung banners in multiple locations around Vancouver in support of Palestine.

Banners were unfurled over the Georgia Viaduct, the Granville Street bridge, and at the corner of Hastings and Commercial back on Dec. 30, one of the organizers of the event, Charlotte Samidoun, told CityNews last week.

“There were several banner drops in different places around the city to highlight and draw attention to the fact that the genocide is still taking place in Palestine,” Samidoun said.

She said the banners highlighted the demonstrators’ support for Palestinian liberation.

“We think it’s really important that Canada’s policy needs to change in terms of Palestine and that one vote in the UN is not enough when people continue to be killed in the hundreds on a daily basis, including Palestinian children,” she said.
