Two teens and their dog had to call for help after a hike gone wrong on Saturday.
The three had been hiking along the Halvor Lunden Trail near Eagle Mountain when they went off the trail and became stuck in steep terrain. Fortunately, cell service was available and they were able to connect to 911 and call for help.
Coquitlam Search and Rescue reached out to North Shore Rescue (NSR) to aid in the mission.
“NSR responded with Talon Helicopters with pilot and hoist operator on night vision goggles, and two NSR night hoist trained technicians,” NSR said on Instagram. “The hikers were located quickly based on the coordinates provided by 911 and the headlamps they were shining at the machine. Two techs were inserted via hoist and the hikers and dog were extracted in three evolutions.
The kids and their canine friend were flown to Eagle Mountain baseball field, where they were reunited with their parents.
