Parts of Stanley Park seawall at risk of closing due to weather

The Vancouver Park Board says sections of the Stanley Park Seawall may close temporarily Tuesday amid safety risks due to the weather.

The board says “water is spraying onto lower sections” of the seawall, resulting in possible closures.

The Vancouver Park Board says staff will continue to monitor the weather and will close parts of the seawall “as necessary to help keep visitors safe from surging tides and overhead hazards.”

The seawall is already closed between Prospect Point and Third Beach due to annual maintenance.

“Please respect all closures, give staff plenty of space to work and stay away from the edges of the seawall, particularly if accompanying children or animals,” the Park Board said on X Tuesday afternoon.

Wind has also forced the City of White Rock to temporarily shut the pier, while parts of Victoria are also experiencing low-level flooding due to waves.
