UBC, BCIT cancel in-person classes Wednesday due to snow

The University of British Columbia and BCIT have both announced cancellations of in-person classes Wednesday as a snow storm is set to hit the Lower Mainland.

UBC says it is cancelling all in-person classes at its Vancouver campus, while BCIT is cancelling all in-person classes at all of its campuses Wednesday.

The school says students should check with their instructors as to whether or not other arrangements will be made.

“Students who have not yet been informed of their class status should look for communications from their instructor to indicate if other arrangements are being made, which may include moving classes online, or providing content asynchronously,” it said.

All necessary services will be maintained, UBC said, and all employees who perform necessary work are expected to come to work.

The school says it will provide its next update at or before 6 a.m. Thursday.
